Camera Traps: Secret Glimpses into Wildlife

Conservation begins with deep knowledge of the territory.
That is why, within the framework of the Selva Paranaense Vida Nativa project, we work in coordination with Aves Argentina, Fundación Vida Silvestre, and scientists affiliated with CONICET to assess the status of local wildlife and identify potential threats in the region.
Non-invasive Monitoring to Protect Biodiversity
Throughout 2024, we strategically installed 36 camera traps in the Misiones forest. These tools allow us to monitor biodiversity in a non-invasive way and gather key information for its protection.
The cameras operate automatically, triggered by animal movement, enabling us to observe local wildlife without altering their natural behavior. Through this system, we can identify key species and detect threats such as poaching or habitat fragmentation.
Every Image Tells a Story
The cameras have already provided us with unique records of native species such as the crested screamer, howler monkeys, and even signs indicating the presence of jaguars. Each photograph is proof of life and a valuable tool for its protection.
One of the most remarkable moments was the detection of a troop of howler monkeys. Thanks to continuous monitoring and careful protocols, they were observed again days later in perfect health and showing no signs of stress—a clear indication that the environment was not disturbed and that our conservation practices are working.
Sustainable Security: Protecting Without Intruding
Our security approach is innovative. Unlike traditional methods, we apply a sustainable model, designed to protect without disrupting the ecosystem’s balance. Patrol activities respect the natural rhythm of the forest and are complemented by continuous documentation of flora and fauna for further scientific analysis.
“Wildlife does not need more noise—it needs more care.”
At Nideport, we remain committed to technology, knowledge, and respect so that the Selva Paranaense can once again become a safe refuge for wildlife.
